Help spread
the word:
If you know anybody who
might be interested in our alternative model for education for their child/ren
please help us by
spreading the word.
STOP PRESS:
Please note: Sadly, due to low enrolment numbers, we are not going ahead as a school in 2010.
We are homeschooling instead, planning to do lots of great things together - if you like the sound of what would have been our school and would be interested in joining us for some homeschooling activities, please contact us - we look forward to meeting you.
NB: The text in this website relates specifically to our school but will give you a good idea of the approach we are bringing to homeschooling.
About Our Teacher
No matter how great a school’s philosophy, the key to bringing educational theory to life are
great teachers—we are very happy to welcome our wonderful new senior teacher for 2010,
Jean Watson.Jean brings twenty years of teaching experience in many settings including at preschool, primary, secondary and tertiary levels. In addition to her experience in traditional classrooms, Jean has taught an alternative program for gifted students, homeschooled two of her three children and worked as an educational consultant to teachers wanting to support gifted students. She is also a classically trained musician, and has a passion for folk and world music, performing arts, and organic gardening. Most importantly, Jean brings immense enthusiasm and the knowledge and commitment required to create a safe, loving and inspiring space where learning happens easefully and naturally.
Our teacher:
Acts as a co-ordinator, facilitating many activities and holding an overview of what is happening throughout the week and year
Ensures that all Key Learning Areas are covered by the curriculum and meet all school registration and reporting requirements
Works to support parents who choose to offer activities, offering guidance as required
Supports each child in meeting her or his potential socially, emotionally and academically
