Curriculum
We offer an innovative play-based approach to curriculum, where Key Learning Areas (KLAs), including literacy and numeracy, are met in three primary ways:
‘Play/workshop’ style activities—these are designed through collaboration with the teacher, parents and children, in response to individual children’s interests and facilitated by our registered teacher and parents. KLAs are actively embedded in these activities
Self-directed activity and free play time—to honour our children’s need for autonomy and to encourage independent learning, we include time each day for self-directed activity and free play. Literacy, numeracy and other KLAs are spontaneously included here as appropriate
Formal lessons—each day also includes some formal classes, focusing on specific learning areas and designed with children's current interests in mind
