Help spread the word:
If you know anybody who might be interested in our alternative model for education for their child/ren please help us by
spreading the word.

STOP PRESS:

Please note: Sadly, due to low enrolment numbers, we are not going ahead as a school in 2010.

We are homeschooling instead, planning to do lots of great things together - if you like the sound of what would have been our school and would be interested in joining us for some homeschooling activities, please contact us - we look forward to meeting you.

NB: The text in this website relates specifically to our school but will give you a good idea of the approach we are bringing to homeschooling.

Part Time Enrollment

As a supplement to home education, we have a limited number of part time enrollment places available to registered home schoolers. Students enrolled part time attend DLC for two days per week (depending on availability we may have some one day per week placements).

For social and practical reasons, we ask that all part-time students attend on set days - we haven't finalised these days yet, but they are likely to be Mondays and Tuesdays.

The program we offer on these days will be geared to meet the interests and needs of both full and part time pupils and will include hands on science activities and experiments, visual and performing arts and other areas of interest.

Parental involvement for students enrolled part time

To support our commitment to direct involvement in our children's education we ask that at least one adult from each family attend DLC a minimum of three hours per fortnight, participating in ways that feel comfortable. This helps us ensure an adult to child ratio of at least 1:5. Parents are welcome to attend more often if they wish, either regularly or casually.

Some examples of how adults participate include facilitating or helping with activities, assisting individual children, administrative duties, cooking communal lunches with children and tending the garden.

Parents and teachers also attend regular meetings where relevant issues are discussed.
All decisions are made collectively. We aim to make most decisions at regular short after-school meetings. Meetings are held on site with supervision provided for the children.

Please note: it is a legal requirement that all parents volunteering on site have an up-to-date Working with Children check. This will be arranged for you upon enrollment.

Fees for part-time attendance

We aim to remain as inexpensive as possible as we do not want anyone to be excluded because of income. Fees can be paid in installments and we are open to reducing or waiving fees entirely in certain circumstances. If fees are a challenge please chat with us.

Currently, our standard fees are $800 or $400 concession per year for part time students.
